ASTM 8620 seamless steel pipe chemical composition and mechanical properties
The chemical composition and mechanical properties of ASTM 8620 seamless steel pipes are as follows:
Chemical composition
ASTM 8620 is a low alloy carburizing steel with a chemical composition design that balances strength and toughness requirements, as follows:
Carbon (C): 0.18-0.23%, controlling the hardness of the substrate and the depth of the carburized layer
Silicon (Si): 0.15~0.35%
Manganese (Mn): 0.70-0.90%
Chromium (Cr): 0.40-0.60%, enhances hardenability and corrosion resistance
Nickel (Ni): 0.40-0.70%, improves low-temperature toughness and fatigue strength
Molybdenum (Mo): 0.15-0.25%, refine grain size and improve high-temperature strength
Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.035%, phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035%, copper (Cu) ≤ 0.030% (impurity control)
Mechanical performance
In the annealed state, ASTM 8620 steel pipes meet the following mechanical indicators:
Tensile strength: ≥ 980 MPa (can reach 1470 MPa after heat treatment)
Yield strength: ≥ 785 MPa
Elongation rate: ≥ 9% (specimen with a gauge length of 50mm)
Sectional shrinkage rate: ≥ 40%
Impact energy: ≥ 59 J/cm ² (Charpy V-notch specimen)
Hardness range: annealed state ≤ 197 HB, surface hardness after carburizing HRC 58-62
